We at food23 are in Tel Aviv, Israel, more precisely Yeha Kapah St 28. It’s the address of Shimon The Soup King, a beautiful little Yemenese restaurant.

Shimon The Soup King is packed with hungry customers. Or better: Yonit The Soup Queen, his daughter Yonit. She cooks everything herself, in-house.

We are here to taste the beef head soup and the beef gizzard soup. It’s supposed to be the OG shit here in Tel Aviv.

The Tasting

The beef head soup is a must-try, just as we thought it would be. Its remarkable taste is complemented by a Yemenese crêpe dough that is perfect for dipping into the soup.

We add some Childe, a Yemenese sauce made from seeds, lemon, and some spiciness, for an extra kick of flavor.

Afterwards, we try the beef gizzard soup, which as the name suggests, is made with gizzard.  It’s also pretty nice.

All in all, this place is amazing.

Watch the clip to get a glimpse of Shimon The Soup King and view our tasting of their delicious beef soups.
